The Middiogin Fable
The Legend Saga: Passage 1
Written By: Taylor Howe
Legend has it...
There was but a flickering little flame...dancing in the darkness of a room...
For it was far too small and dim to brighten anything, but the small, cold patch of stone floor that lay below it...
This little flame had witnessed many other flames over time...flames of all sizes of burning cinders...as they would flash on by, or shimmer, and burn out within the same dark room...
They would burn bright and with ferocity, as they illuminated fragments of what appeared to be great written works speckled across the distances of the ever expanding darkness that was this room...almost as if they were inspired by what they were witnessing...perhaps growing or even learning...
The little flame knew not of what was written in these great texts...nor where...or in what order...they were to been seen...
But what the little flame did know...was that if it danced and flickered far to one side for long enough...that it would more than likely stumble upon one of these great works itself...
Perhaps...maybe...if it concentrated it's flickering light for even long enough...it would be able to make out the words written on the spine of one of these illustrious masterpieces...and maybe...upon reading one of these great titles of grand illuminations...it too, would burn brighter as a flame...like the others did before it...
This little flame learned from the previous flames before it however...learned not to so bright, and so fast for too long...as it will risk the chances of burning out...but to take it slow and burn over time...and with this time...and even great focus...learn more and grow...maybe even educate itself, and become an enlightened flame...
With this gathered knowledge of observation...it danced it's way over to one side of the room...eventually, the little flame discovered the first work of art...in written word...a title that was almost fated to be seen first...
This title of grandiose was accompanied by a picture of a sparkling path of light through a Majik forest...
The title inscribed on this glorious golden text was...'Pathway To Middiogin'
It is upon reading this...the little flame burned brilliant and true for a solitary moment...it was, but in this moment...the little flame felt as though it was powered somehow by the knowledge and spiritual connection it had gained from encountering this grand title for the first time...
This once little flame illuminated the entirety of the room in an instant...quick, but meaningful...the flame then knew it was not just in a any dark room...but in fact in a grand library...
Excited to learn more, and to see the other great works that decorated this amazing place...the flame then returned to its small, but more intensely focused flickering...it then knew the journey it must make...that in time, it too, would become powerful like the illumination depicted in the this grand title before it...knowledge is to be earned by studying, travelling, experiencing and learning over time...
Pondering more...as it thought to itself...a personal note...
"Steady little flame...do not burn out so quickly...it takes time and perhaps even centuries to become what you are suppose to become...this library has stood long before you were but a flash...and it will...with your eventual grand enlightenment...stand long after you have reached your fullest potential...be patient little flame...Middiogin awaits you!"
